Kathmandu, Jan 11: A Maoist rebel was killed and another seriously wounded when a bomb one of them was carrying exploded in Lalitpur district of Kathmandu valley, local media reported today. The two terrorists barged into a house yesterday in Gotikhel area of the district and demanded to be fed. The explosive tied around the waist of one of the militants suddenly went off while the two were having the meal, the rising Nepal quoted defence ministry sources as saying. The body of the militant as well as his wounded accomplice were carried away by Maoist activists, the sources said. Two persons present in the house were also injured in the blast.
Meanwhile, a rural electrification project in Charikot damaged in a Maoist attack has resumed operation after repair carried out in collaboration with a Norwegian company, the national news agency reported.


Around 1,700 people in 14 districts have been displaced due to Maoist violence after security posts in the areas were limited to just the district headquarters, according to the western regional administration office.
