Red Alert was sounded in Manipur as prohibitory orders remained in force in entire valley in view of large scale opposition to the extension of the ceasefire between the Centre and the NSCN(I-M) to Naga inhabited areas.
The police and security forces have stepped up patrolling in Naga-settled areas in the valley, besides keeping vigil at all vulnerable places throughout the valley districts, they said.
Prohibitory orders imposed, on Thursday, for an indefinite period in four valley districts -- Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal and Bishnupur -- continue to remain in force.
Meanwhile, several local dailies prominently carried the ceasefire agreement signed in Bangkok and the reactions on it by several organisations opposing its extension to Manipur.
