Chandigarh, June 10: Maintaining that his unity with veteran Akali stalwart Gurcharan Singh Tohra has taken place "in principle", Shiromani Akali Dal chief Parkash Singh Badal today said a formal announcement of the much-awaited decision would be made within a week.
"I will go and meet Tohra within two day's time and after sitting together and holding discussions on a few things, the two of us will jointly announce about our unity," he told reporters after the party's political affairs committee meeting here.

"The delay in unity has taken place only due to recent poor health of Tohra," he added.

Parrying questions on what would be the position of Tohra in the united Akali Dal, Badal said that all decisions would be taken jointly through consultations.
"Tohra has imposed no conditions for the unity," he added.

The two Akali leaders parted ways about six years back after Tohra raised issue of decentralisation of powers in Akali Dal, but Badal showed him the door. Tohra later floated Sarb Hind Shiromani Akali Dal.
