Pathankot, Dec 02: Director General of Defence
Intelligence Agency Lt Gen Kamal Davar has said he hoped that
Pakistan would continue to maintain ceasefire along the
Indo-Pak border in Jammu and Kashmir.
"There is no firing along Indo-Pak border and ceasefire
continues. Border line is silent, let us see what happens. We
are hopeful that Pakistan will respond positively and
continue the ceasefire," Gen Davar, who is the first chief of
DIA, told after presentation of "colours of standard" to
86 armoured regiment by President A P J Abdul Kalam at Mamoon
military station here yesterday.
With guns in silence along 1126 Km Indo-Pak border in Jammu and Kashmir for seventh day today following Eid truce, Gen Davar said "continuance of the ceasefire would depend on positive response of Pakistan".
Pointing out that "so far there has been no violation by either side," Gen Davar, who is colonel of 86 armoured regiment, said "we have to wait to see what would be result of the ceasefire move". "India has always been taking peace initiatives, but it will depend on Pakistan in future to respond," he said.
Asserting that there would be no stopping of anti-militancy operations, Gen Davar said "anti-terrorism operations would always continue with the same vigour as they have been".
On reports of massive construction of bunkers by the Pakistani side along the borderline as ceasefire continues, he said "improvement in defence preparations is always carried out on both sides. There is nothing new in it". Bureau Report
