Hyderabad, Oct 24: Mahesh Bhupati and Rohan Bopanna will lead the Indian challenge in tennis, in the first Afro-Asian Games (AAG), beginning here today, according to IOA president Suresh Kalmadi.
"All controversy about Indian tennis stars taking part in AAG can be put at rest, as Mahesh and Rohan are going to lead the Indian challenge", he said here yesterday.
The official said, legendary sprinter Frankie Fredericks of Nigeria is also expected to take part in the games.
Nigerian coaches have assured that Federic is also expected to take part in the Games, he said.
About 100 gold medalists in eight disciplines have landed in the city to take part in the event. A large contingent from African and Asian continents had made it to the city and more are expected in the coming days as track and field events would start from October 28, Kalmadi added.
