New Delhi, May 26: The Delhi High Court today granted bail to two of the sacked DDA officials accused in the DDA scam after the CBI conceded that they may be released under certain conditions as the probe was likely to take more time. Justice S K Agrawal, who ordered the release of DDA Commissioner (land disposal) Anand Mohan Sharan and Director (land) Jagdish Chander, asked them not to leave the country without the permission of the court and surrender their passports if any. The court also directed the accused not to tamper with evidence, refrain from contacting witnesses and cooperate in the investigation. While Sharan has been asked to furnish a personal bond of Rs two lakh with a surety of the same amount, Chander will have to furnish a personal bond in the sum of Rs one lakh with one surety in the like amount.
The bail plea of sacked DDA vice chairman Subhash Sharma is likely to come up for hearing tomorrow.

Sharan's counsel D C Mathur argued that his client had already spent 58 days in custody and the probe agency was not likely to file the chargesheet within 60 days.

Under CRPC, an accused arrested for an offence punishable with imprisonment up to seven years, is entitled to bail, if the prosecution fails to file the chargesheet within 60 days, he pointed out.
Earlier, two judges of the high court had declined to hear the bail pleas of the sacked DDA officials without giving any reason for their decision, while the third one transferred the bail applications as one of the counsel for the accused was related to him. Bureau Report
