Mumbai, Dec 02: The Mumbai Police raided two residential premises late last night in a village near Panvel on the outskirts of Mumbai, reportedly belonging to Abhay Bansal, arrested earlier in the multi-crore fake stamps scam, and his mother, and recovered over 200 boxes of currencies and stamp papers. When contacted, a Versova police station officer confirmed that the officers had raided a row house and a flat at Takka village.
The row house, he said, is believed to belong to Bansal while the flat is registered in his mother's name. Bansal was already under arrest in connection with the fake stamps scam along with two others from Nasik. All three are presently in the custody of Versova police.
Last night's raids were conducted after an expose by a private television channel wherein their reporter had discovered vast amounts of foreign currency and stamps of different countries from a bungalow, allegedly belonging to Bansal from Nasik.
