Milwaukee, July 12: Torrential rains and heavy winds halteds play at the Greater Milwaukee Open on Friday as Jay Don Blake carded a 2-under-par 68 on Friday in swirling winds of 30 miles per hour to hold on to his one-shot lead midway through the $3.5 million tournament. Patrick Sheehan signed for a 5-under 65 and is tied for second with Jerry Kelly and Brett Quigley, who shot 67s. Seven players are another two shots back, including Loren Roberts, a two-time winner of this event. Five of the last seven winners of this tournament have been 40 or older, a trend the 44-year-old Blake would like to continue. The Utah native missed the cut in his last three events and his best finish this season was a tie for 28th at the Capital Open. Blake managed to shoot a 66 in the first round of the U.S. Open, although he came away from that major with a stiff neck that has plagued him in recent weeks.

The 40-something winners at the Milwaukee Open include Roberts (1996, 2000), Scott Hoch (1997) and Jeff Sluman (1998, 2002). The Brown Deer Park course measures 6,759 yards. First prize is $630,000.
