Mumbai, Sept 23: The Sri Lankan Film Festival 2002 would be inaugurated by city Sheriff Kiran Shantaram at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) here on September 25. Three award winning films--the compensation (by Bennett Rathnayake), pilgrimage (Vasantha Obeysekera) and sorrow of existence (Dharmasiri Bandaranayake)--would be screened at the four-day festival, according to a release here today.
The films extensively relate with the pre-independence and modern society in Sri Lanka.

The festival is being organised by the consulate general of Sri Lanka in association with the ministry of cultural affairs, Indo-Sri Lanka society, NCPA and Prabhat Chitra Mandal. This is the third consecutive time that the festival is being held in Mumbai.
