Nalbari (Assam), July 21: At least 51 people, including women and children, have died of diarrohea, dysentery and malaria in Lower Assam's flood-affected Nalbari district in the last couple of months. Twenty-six people succumbed to diarrohea, nine died due to dysentary and 16 of malaria. Atleast 10,000 others were affected, official sources said here today.

The unofficial toll is as high as 121.

Joint director of health services Khagendra Nath Sarma said with slight improvement in the flood scene, water borne diseases had taken an epidemic form, particularly in Borkhetri revenue circle's riverine areas.
