New Delhi: Actress Vidya Malvade of "Chak De! India" fame, who starred in "1920: Evil Returns" and recently featured in an episode of "Darr Sabko Lagta Hai", says she will be game to do more films in the genre.
Vidya told IANS: "If the film is good, I will (do a horror film). It all depends on what the written material is."
"Horror is a genre that is very exciting for some and for some it would be very scary, so they wouldn't watch it. But people who are horror fanatics love watching this genre, and they go for whatever comes out... There is a dedicated following for horror (content)," she said.
Vidya also hopes that the horror genre in India witnesses a change soon.
Asked if the horror genre in India can be compared to that of the West, Vidya said: "Well, there are some films made by Satyajit Ray and they are great... There are a lot of television horror shows that are not quite up to the mark at all, but hopefully it's going to change."
The actress feels that while the country has a pool of talent, she is not sure if it's being used well.
On the small screen, Vidya has been part of the first season of the stunt-based reality show "Khatron Ke Khiladi" and has now signed on for an episode of &TV's "Darr Sabko Lagta Hai".
Asked if she would like to do fictional TV shows, Vidya said: "If it doesn't take too much of my time and if it's interesting, then yes. But if it's the same old thing, then no. So many people are doing that, so let them do it... They are good at that," she said.
On the silver screen, Vidya will next be seen in Subhash Sehgal's romantic comedy "Yaara Silly Silly", where she doing a special appearnce in a politician's role.
