Kohima, Oct 26: Nagaland government and political parties today said they would urge Prime Minister A B Vajpayee, during his maiden visit to the trouble-torn state, to expedite the ongoing peace process and allot more Central funds for development activities.
The Prime Minister during his three-day visit will meet Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and his Council of Ministers, Governor Shyamal Datta and representatives of various political parties and NGOs.
Vajpayee will be accompanied by the Union minister C P Thakur, Minister of State for Water Resources Bijoya Chakravorty, Minister of State for Communication Ashok Pradhan and about 15 relatives and family members, official sources said. According to the Chief Minister's office, Rio was working on a government memorandum to be submitted to the Prime Minister focusing mainly on areas of infrastructure, human resource development and employment generation. The apex tribal council, Naga Hoho, and other mass-based organisations as also church organisations hinted that Nagas' aspiration to live under one administrative set-up would form the main agenda in their meeting with the Prime Minister.
