Indore, Nov 02: Alleging that Congress had not given due representation to Muslims in ticket distribution for assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh, state Congress minority cell vice-chairman Akthar Baig has called upon the community to "show Congress candidates their proper place at the hustings". In a statement here today, Baig said the community had been ignored specially in Indore and "disrespect shown to the community had reached its zenith".
In the distribution of tickets, Congress had `proved' that it considered the Muslim community merely as a "political toy", he added.
Baig also criticised Congress national general secretary Ambika Soni's reported statement in the media that the delay in announcing the list was due to the adjustment of `caste calculations'.
Muslims, who constitute 13 per cent of the population in the state, have been given only five seats out of the total 230, Baig said. Bureau Report
