Anurag Kashyap spills anger on Twitter, says `Udta Punjab` controversy feels like living in North Korea
Bollywood`s much awaited venture `Udta Punjab` recently came under the scanner of Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which not only suggested the makers remove `Punjab` from the movie title but reportedly also wants as many as 89 cuts; plus A rating.
New Delhi: Bollywood's much awaited venture 'Udta Punjab' recently came under the scanner of Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which not only suggested the makers remove 'Punjab' from the movie title but reportedly also wants as many as 89 cuts; plus A rating.
Too much to handle? Well, besides the fuming Twitterati over this move by the CBFC, which feels that the movie presents Punjab in a bad light, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap too has spilled anger over it.
Anurag tweeted:
“We haven’t received a letter yet. We don’t know how many cuts, but we can tell you that their basic demand is that any reference of Punjab should be deleted from the movie... Which then means a lot of cuts,” a source told IANS.
The source added: “They want the film to be set in a fictitious space and not Punjab. Makers are not going to adhere to it. They will protest. If that means going to a higher tribunal, we will go. Otherwise, we will go to the court.”
The film is co-produced by Kashyap and stars Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjh.
