Bajirao Mastani: Five things to look forward to

Mumbai: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s labour of love- Bajirao Mastani – is all set to hit the silverscreen this Friday. Featuring Ranveer Singh as Bajirao, Deepika Padukone as Mastani and Priyanka Chopra as Kashibai is Bhansali’s most ambitious project.

The film, which was originally supposed to star Salman Khan as Bajirao, was kept on hold for long. Things didn’t materialise and hence Bhansali had to go in search of a new talent who could play the Maratha Peshwa.

Finally, Ranveer was locked for the role and the young energetic man seems to have worked really hard for the project.

Here’s taking a look at five things we can look forward to:

The storyline: The film is based on the equation between Bajirao and Mastani. The film had made headlines for wrong reasons after descendants of the Peshwa objected to the release of the film. According to them, Bhansali distorted historical facts in the name of creative expression. It would be interesting to see how Bhansali represents history on celluloid.

The chemistry between Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh: Ranveer and Deepika set the silverscreen ablaze with their too-hot-to-handle chemistry in ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela- Ram Leela’. The two share a very special relationship off screen too!

Bhansali’s Midas touch:  Sanjay Leela Bhansali has a typical style that reflects in each of his films. The way he portrays women in his films are indeed a lot different from how the feminine characters are projected by other filmmakers.

The larger than life sets: Known for creating a spectacle on screen, Bhansali has proved yet again that he is a master of the art called filmmaking. The larger-than-life sets, costumes and grandeur have always left us in awe.

The Music: The music in the film is a refreshing treat to the years. Be it the devotional Gajanana track or the Deewani Masatni song with a folk and a Qawwali touch or the super-energetic Malhari track. Each of the songs have a distinct appeal and reflect Indianness.
