Los Angeles: Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow in one of the top names being circled to helm the untitled "Tomb Raider" reboot.
The 63-year-old filmmaker is narrowed down by the producers along with "Twilight" helmer Catherine Hardwicke and "Deep Impact" director Mimi Leder,reported Aceshowbiz.
Its been a while since the project was announced by MGM in collaboration with GK Films, but the rights to the reboot landed at Warner Bros in February this year.
Evan Daugherty is hired to write the screenplay.
The new "Tomb Raider" film will revolve around Lara Croft's early years as an adventurer.
The studio has not announced the official release date yet, but the movie is pitched for 2017 release.
