Vidya`s `Begum Jaan` will be an adaptation of `Rajkahini`, a Bengali film directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Srijit Mukherji.
Mumbai: We all know that Ketan Mehta has roped in Kangana Ranaut to essay the role of Rani Lakshmibai in a film based on the queen of Jhansi. But fans of Vidya Balan too will get to see the super-talented actress potraying the Veerangana in a film titled ‘Begum Jaan’. Yes, you heard that right.
According to a report in Bollywoodlife.com, originally attributed to a leading tabloid Vidya will play three big names from Indian history - Rani Lakshmibai, Razia Sultana and Mirabai - in an important sequence in the film.
Interestingly, each of the three powerful characters will add value to the narrative.
Vidya’s ‘Begum Jaan’ will be an adaptation of ‘Rajkahini’, a Bengali film directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Srijit Mukherji.
The ‘Kahaani’ star is thrilled as she will get to essay three characters from different periods and will not use a body-double to shoot the horse-riding sequences while playing Rani Lakshmibai.
