Melbourne: The 'Stars Wars: The Force Awakens' producers seem to be in trouble after they were hit with some criminal charges over the 2014 accident that left actor Harrison Ford with a broken leg.

Britain's Health and Safety Executive (HSE) announced that it was prosecuting Foodles Production (UK) Ltd. over four alleged breaches of health and safety law, News.com.au reports.

In a statement, HSE added that according to laws, employers must take reasonable steps to protect workers and this is applicable on a film set as it a factory floor.

A spokeswoman for the film production company said that the safety was always a top priority, adding that they fully co-operated during HSE's investigation and are very disappointed with HSE's decision.

A hearing will take place at a court near the studios on May 12.

It is being said that the production on the film was suspended for two weeks after Ford's injury, who was 71 at the time.

Ford got injured when he was struck by a heavy hydraulic metal door on the set of the Millennium Falcon, his character Han Solo's famous spaceship.

However, the seventh installment in the 'Star Wars' series has been a huge hit in December, as became the fastest movie ever to pass the 1 billion US dollar mark in the global Box Office sales.
