Kumar has signed the contract for the film with producers Vinay Sinha and Preeti Sinha of Reel Life Entertainment.
The actor for the lead role is yet to be decided.
Writer Sanjeev Dutta known for films like "Page 3," "Life in a Metro" and "Gangster" will pen the project.
Major parts of the film would be shot in Patna, Bahl said.
"Super 30" for which Kumar provides free fooding, lodging and teaching to students of poor families has won accolades within the country as well abroad.
Dutta told reporters that his wife had inspired him to pen a movie on life and achievements of the mathematician, which would inspire the younger generation in particular.
As part of the research on the mathematician, who could not go to Cambridge due to poverty but decided to shape the careers of those like him, the writer had discussions with him and his students.
According to the producers the film would take at least two years to hit the theaters.
Kumar said he was earlier approached by actress Priyanka Chopra and director Anurag Basu for a biopic on him.
"I found the script of Sanjeev Dutta interesting and agreed for the film," he said.
