Mumbai: She began her film career with Karan Johar’s ‘Student of the Year’ and thus carried forward her family’s legacy and its association with the world of cinema. Alia Bhatt is here to play a very long and an impressive innings indeed!
After essaying a “cliché” character in her debut film, Alia announced her arrival as an actor with Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Highway’, in which she portrayed a victim of Stockholm syndrome. Her pairing and onscreen chemistry with a much older Randeep Hooda was a refreshing delight. And with this film, she made her singing debut too.
Then followed ‘2 States’ that required a gutsy performance. As Ananya, Alia pulled it off in style and looked convincing as a south Indian girl.
‘Humpty Sharma ki Dulhania’, ‘Shaandaar’ and ‘Kapoor and Sons’ added weight to her curriculum vitae but it was ‘Udta Punjab’ that redefined her space in Bollywood. As an overenthusiastic youngster who wishes to make quick bucks by indulging in drug-dealing, Alia stunned the audiences and critics alike and proved that she has much more to offer as an actor than regular stuff.
And after this power-packed performance, ‘Dear Zindagi’ turned to be a perfect icing on the cake. The young girl has been applauded for delivering a performance of a life time and establishing the fact that a woman can outshine a man even if he happens to be one of the biggest superstars.
More power to you girl!
