Mumbai: Farhan Akhtar has lent his voice to many songs but the filmaker-actor says he has never requested the producer of his movies to let him croon.
Farhan, who has sung songs like ‘Rock On’, ‘Senorita’ and the latest ‘Gallan Goodiyaan’ from ‘Dil Dhadkne Do’ says he will request to sing a track only if he feels he can add an emotional depth to it.
When asked if he requests producers to give him a song, Farhan said, "No I never do that. I seriously don't. In 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' I didn't sing any song, in 'Shaadi Ke Side Effects' I had just one song which was there in the background, even in 'Luck By Chance' I didn't sing any," the actor told reporters.
"It depends on the genre of the song and if I think I can emotionally contribute to it through my character, then I do request otherwise no," he added.
Farhan has recorded a song, ‘Atrangi Yaari’, with megastar Amitabh Bachchan for their upcoming film ‘Wazir’.
The 41-year-old ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ star said it was a wonderful experience singing with Bachchan.
"It was a very beautiful experience. We have heard his songs which he has sung in many movies, even an album of his was released... It's a wonderful song, so it was fun performing it together."
The 73-year-old ‘Piku’ star, who has crooned hit numbers like ‘Mere Angne Mei’ and ‘Mai Yahan Tu Wahan’, does not consider himself as a singer.
"I am not a singer, nor do I know how to sing. But a lot of things happen in a film where people say if the actor sings the song then it'll be better... So it fits the scene and I sing," Bachchan said.
‘Wazir’ is slated to release on January 8.
