Madrid, Oct 17: Second seed Andy Roddick crashes out of the Madrid Masters at the hands of Nicolas Massu of Chile.
Nicolas Massu of Chile sent U.S. second seed Andy Roddick spinning to a shock 7-6 6-2 defeat in the third round of the Madrid Masters on Thursday (October 16). Unseeded Massu recovered from 5-2 down in the first set with a stunning display of power hitting to clinch it 7-3 in the tie break. U.S. Open champion Roddick was left reeling by the Chilean's onslaught and lost his serve at the start of the second set. The American was never given a chance to recover by Massu, who extended his 3-0 lead to clinch victory in one hour 20 minutes and reach the quarter-finals when Roddick double-faulted on match-point.
