Dhubri, May 26: In a freak accident, 12 passengers were electrocuted and over 20 others were injured today when a high tension overhead electric wire fell on a private bus on the highway in lower Assam's Dhubri district, official sources here said. The high tension wire of the Assam State Electricity Board (ASEB) snapped just as the bus coming from Basbari to Dhubri was passing that way and fell on it killing nine passengers on the spot, the sources said. The exact number of the injured among the 40 passsengers of the bus was yet to be known, sources said adding they had been admitted to Dhubri civil hospital. Senior civil and police officials had rushed to the site.
