Dehradun, Sept 22: Describing the issuance of the controversial land ordinance as a "hasty step", BJP today set up a committee to study all aspects of the recently promulgated ordinance and its impact on the people of Uttaranchal. The 14-member committee, headed by former chief minister Nityanand Swami, would go into all aspects of the ordinance, leader of the opposition in state assembly, Bhagat Singh Koshiyari told reporters here.

The suggestions and recommendations of the committee would later be discussed at a party forum before taking it up with the congress government, he said.

Describing the issuance of land ordinance as a "hasty step", Koshiyari said, "the measure has made agriculture land transaction difficult for the common people while land mafia can buy lands easily through development authorities and corporations".
