New Delhi, Oct 22: A day after Union Cabinet decided to accord statutory powers to the Central Pota Review Committee, Congress today expressed dissatisfaction over the
"patchwork amendment" and demanded a review of the "draconian" legislation.
"We are opposed to the legislation in principle. What has
been offered is 'too little too late'. We don't think a
patchwork amendment will do. What is needed is an overhaul, a
review of the draconian legislation," party spokesman Abhishek
Singhvi told reporters.
He said the government's move has vindicated the Congress position that provisions of Pota would be misused.
