Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi has announced compensation of Rs 10 lakh to dependents of each of the five policemen, killed in a landmine blast by outlawed People's War Group (PWG) in Gaya district on Wednesday night.
The government would also provide a job to an eligible dependent of each of the deceased, who included a driver, she said on Thursday.
She said an intensive operation would soon be launched to flush out criminals and extremists and directed the state home secretary to take steps to deal with the culprits with an iron hand.
Angry members of Bihar Police Association, who had on Thursday launched an agitation near belaganj police station to protest the killing, allowed the authorities to remove the bodies of those killed for cremation after the chief minister's announcement.
