Ahmedabad, Nov 05: The city crime branch today claimed to have averted a major 'fidayeen' operation in Gujarat and arrested four persons from the highly sensitive Juhapura area and seized one AK-47 assault rifle, officials said here. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) D G Vanjhara told reporters pti that the crime branch had averted a major 'fidayeen' operation by making these arrests and the seizure following intelligence inputs.
"The accused persons either planned to assassinate a prominent leader or cause a major disturbance in a public area and were arrested before they could carry out either of the operations", Vanjhara said.
He said the four were also involved in some hawala transactions and it was under investigation.
