Govt employees give theee-month ultimatum to Centre
New Delhi, Sept 25: Setting the tone for tommorow`s trade unions` convention, representatives of State and Central Government employees today gave a three-month ultimatum to the Centre to meet their demands, including restoration of the right to strike, which was turned down by the Supreme Court recently.

"If the Government does not frame a new set of rules and
ratify various ILO conventions, including the one which gives
Government employees the right to strike, within next three
months, we may be forced to go on strike," Confederation of
Central Government Employees and Workers President, S K Vyas
told mediapersons.
Briefing on the outcome of the day-long meeting of All India
State Government Employees Federation and the Confederation,
he said that a draft declaration was finalised according to which a mass
petition will be submitted to the Parliament by December, demanding
ratification of relevant ILO conventions so that Government employees enjoy full trade union rights, including the right to strike.
