New Delhi, Aug 01: CPI-M today accused the ruling NDA of making "calculated efforts" to not allow parliament to run and "throttling" the opposition by preventing it from raising important issues by "disrupting" proceedings. Stating that major issues like that of CBI functioning and BJP's criticism of NHRC's role in the best bakery case were not being allowed to be raised by the ruling party, CPI-M leader Somnath Chatterjee said, "It is a unique situation that members from the treasury benches have disrupted proceedings for the last five days in Lok Sabha".

"It is a calculated effort of the ruling party to try and blackout all major issues in the house", he said and accused Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee of being "totally unconcerned" about the proceedings.

Blaming BSP, Shiv Sena and BJP for disrupting the proceedings, he said that it amounted to "calculated denigration of Parliament" where parliamentary affairs minister Sushma Swaraj was "acting like a sleeping Buddha, totally unconcerned about the happenings".
