Bangalore, Nov 28: Karnataka High Court today granted conditional bail to Tamil activist Kolathur Mani, clearing the decks for him to undertake the mediatory mission to forest bandit Veerappan to negotiate the release of abducted JD(U) leader H Nagappa. Justice H N Narayana enlarged Mani on bail on his furnishing a bond for one lakh rupees and two sureties for a like sum, when the bail applications concerning three cases came up for hearing.
The judge directed Mani to appear before the Kollegal Rural Police once in ten days.
The judge also directed that Mani should ensure his presence before court as and when summons were issued, failing which the bail would be cancelled.
With this, Mani has secured bail in cases booked against him in Kollegal, Chamarajanagar and Ramapura police stations under arms and explosives act and for aiding the bandit.
Public prosecutors Marigowda and Thimmarayappa did not oppose the bail and Mani`s counsel T Prakash pleaded with the court to grant bail to his client.
