Sept 06: Eduardo Romero is on course to become the European tour's oldest winner after a third-round 67 gave him a two-shot lead at the Omega European Masters. The 49-year-old Argentine picked up four shots at Crans-sur-Sierre to take his overall total to 13 under, two shots clear of South Africa's Ernie Els. Defending champion and overnight leader Robert Karlsson is a further stroke back on 10 under after a level-par round of 71. Romero is aiming for his third European Masters title after winning in 1994 and 2000.
Victory would make him one year and 18 days older than previous oldest Tour winner, 2001 Madeira Island Open winner Des Smyth of Ireland.

Michael Campbell and Trevor Immelman, who began the round in third place with Els, slipped down the field.
A birdie on the 15th stopped the rot but was followed by another bogey before a grandstand finish with an approach to within inches of the flag on the 17th and a closing birdie from 10ft.
"For a while I thought I was going to go really low and then for a while I thought I wasn't going to break par," said Els.

"The flags were really tough and it made us think. These greens are unique and it's tough to get shots close.

"But I am smiling now. You just have to take what you can get on this course. I saw some of the places for the pins tomorrow and they look more accessible."
