Dhaka, May 29: At least 10 farmers have died from sunstroke and dehydration in heat wave sweeping tropical Bangladesh this week, officials said today.

The deaths occurred in the country's northern region
where the temperatures rose as high as 41 degrees celsius.
Relief officials, speaking on condition of anonymity,
said six farmers died in Rajshahi district, 232 kilometres
northwest of capital, Dhaka. Four died in neighbouring Rangpur
district.
They said hospitals have treated dozens of people for
dehydration.
The weather office said the heat wave is likely to last until next week, when monsoons are expected to hit the Delta Nation. Bureau Report
