Mentally-unstable worker wreaks havoc in Tinsukia tea garden
Guwahati, June 20: A tea garden official in Assam has been attacked and seriously injured by a mentally unstable worker in Tinsukia district.

The police at Pangeri said a mentally unstable tea labourer seriously injured Pangeri tea estate manager, Dilip Singh Verma, in his right hand and leg on Wednesday.
The Assam Tea Plantation Task Force personnel accompanying the manager overpowered the assailant and in the process injured him.
Both the manager and the labourer were admitted to hospital, the police said.
The labourer, identified as Sanjoy Narayan, was claimed by his father-in-law to be mentally ill for a month when he tried to kill his wife also. Doctors attending on him said that he suffered from delusions that people would kill him.
Meanwhile, in view of the untoward incidents in some tea gardens of the state, the Tinsukia district administration held a meeting with the representatives of the tea associations, tea estates, labour organisations and law-enforcing agencies to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
The meeting urged the local tea managers to communicate the demands and problems of their respective estates to their management to avoid any untoward incident.
Meanwhile, president of Assam Congress and Asom Chah Mazdoor Sangh, Paban Singh Ghatowar, has called urgent intervention of the government for resolving the ongoing conflicts between the managerial staff and tea garden workers.
