Kolkata, July 18: The opposition Trinamool Congress today returned to the West Bengal Assembly ending its over three week-long boycott taking heed of Prime Minister Atal
Behari Vajpayee's suggestion.
A TC working committee meeting yesterday decided to withdraw the boycott of the house which was to protest against alleged terror and atrocities by the CPI(M) in the last
panchayat election in the state.
The Prime Minister, during his visit here on Wednesday, had advised a TC delegation headed by its chief Mamata Banerjee that the legislators should end their boycott and return to the house. TC chief whip Sobhandev Chattopadhyay said that his party had requested speaker Hasim Abdul Halim to suspend the house for a day on July 21 when Trinamool Congress would organise its 'martyrs day' programme, but this was not accepted.
The TC chief whip said that his party would participate in various house committees including the assembly public accounts committee. Bureau Report
