Rome, Dec 14: For the second time in two days Italian Police today defused a bomb sent to premises of the Spanish Airline Iberia in Italy, officials said.
The latest device, consisting of powder in an envelope with a timing device attached, was sent to Iberia's offices at Milan Airport, police said. Yesterday, a bomb was found hidden in a book left at Iberia's Italian headquarters in Rome. The device was destroyed in a controlled explosion, police said.
In a possibly related development, Spanish police said on Thursday that they had defused another bomb sent by mail from Milan, and received at the Barcelona offices of the Spanish newspaper El Pais. The package contained a message from a group using the name "against capitalism, prisons and prison warders", or CCCC in Italian. Italian Police have warned employees of Spanish companies in the country to be on the look-out for more suspicious packages.
