Mumbai, Nov 22: The situation today remained "tense but under control" with curfew being relaxed in some areas of Parbhani town of Maharashtra where an explosion in a mosque during prayers and violence yesterday left 38 people injured. "The situation is tense but under control,” district collector Madhukar Chaudhary told here.
The curfew, imposed yesterday, remained in force in all sensitive areas while it was relaxed in some parts till 5 pm, he said.
In other areas where curfew was imposed till 8 am., it was extended by two hours, Chaudhary said.
Thirty five people were injured when two motorcycle-borne persons lobbed crude bombs in a mosque during Friday prayers. Three others were injured in stone pelting thereafter, the collector said.
One of the critically injured has been shifted to Apollo Hospital in Hyderbad, Chaudhary said.
Police was maintaining strict vigil in sensitive Shivaji Chowk, Juna Fonda Nagar and Gujri Bazar Chowk areas of the town.
Three companies of SRPF have been deployed in the town besides additional 100 police personnel from neighbouring Nanded, Latur, Hingoli and Jalna.
