Lucknow, Sept 01: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav is likely to seek a vote of confidence on the floor of the state assembly on September 8 as directed by Governor Vishnukant Shastri, Samajwadi Party sources said here today. Assembly sources, however, said they were yet to receive a formal communication from the government in this regard.
Yadav, who was sworn in on Friday last as Chief Minister, was asked by Shastri to prove his majority on the floor of the House within 14 days of assuming office.
The budget session of the UP Assembly begins tomorrow when obituary references would taken up after which the House would be adjourned for the day. The business advisory committee of the House would be meeting tomorrow to finalise the agenda of the rest of the session.
The budget for the year 2003-2004 is also likely to be passed in the current session though sources indicated that the new government would prefer to have a vote on account for the next three months. Bureau Report
