Faridkot, May 05: Rich tributes and prayer meetings marked the 87th birth anniversary of former president Gyani Zail Singh here today. An all-party meeting, presided over by Surinder Iqbal Singh president district Congress Committee was also held.
Among others who attended the function included Avtar Sngh Brar, former minister, Surinder Kumar Gupta senior Congress leader and Mohan Singh Matta, president Nagar Council Kothkapura,
The meeting unanimously resolved to approach Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh for the implementation of the Punjab government's decision to set up an engineering college in the memory of the president at his native village Sandhwan. The meeting also appealed to Amarinder Singh to take initiative for installing a life size statue of Zail Singh at Faridkot.
