Agra, Apr 04: Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani today said the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh was ''a matter of concern'' but denied that the NDA government at the Centre had any soft corner for the Mulayam Singh-led government in the state. ''The way my colleagues have described the law and order situation in the state, it seems it is getting worse,'' he told mediapersons here on the 23rd day of his Bharat Uday Yatra.
The Deputy Prime Minister said the situation in UP ''pained'' him more as he was responsible for the internal security of the country. He asked the people not to vote for regional parties as the race for the prime ministership was between the alliances led by the BJP and the Congress.
Advani during his campaign in Haryana had recently asked the people of the state not to vote for a regional party.
''India is a democratic country and people have a right to decide who is relevant and who is not,'' Advani, however, clarified. Bureau Report
