Chennai: Film director Venkat Prabhu, who shot to fame with 'Chennai 600028', today began work on the sequel of his 2007 superhit movie, here.
Formal work on 'Chennai 600028 Part II' began with a traditional pooja, a press release said.
Compared to the first part, which revolves around the game of cricket and friendship among a group of boys in a slum, the sequel would feature their lives as middle-aged men, it added.
Venkat Prabhu, an ardent cricket fan, has decided to retain the cast of 'Chennai 600028' for the sequel.
The film has a host of actors and actresses, including Jai, 'Mirchi' Shiva, Premji Amaran, Nithin Sathya, Vijay Vasanth and Vijayalakshmi.
Prabhu had also directed the blockbuster, Ajith starrer 'Mankatha' in 2011.
