Kathmandu, Sept 06: Six Maoist rebels were killed in fresh clashes with security forces in different parts of Nepal, official sources said today. Two rebels were killed in an encounter with the security forces at Kapurkot of Dhanwang village in Salyan district yesterday, they said adding a pistol and some socket bombs were recovered from the site.
In a separate incident, three more rebels were killed in a clash between the rebels and the security forces in Harion village of Sarlahi district, the sources were quoted as saying by 'The Rising Nepal' daily.
One more rebel was killed in an encounter with the security forces in Pinlechor of Bajura district.
A security personnel was shot at and injured by Maoists at Surkhet district.
Maoists also abducted a CPN-UML worker from Basbidi Jigadiya village in Rautahat district on Thursday night but released four people they had abducted from Sankhuwasabha district after severely beating them.
The rebel warned the four not to oppose any activity of the rebels, the report said. Meanwhile, a report submitted by a probe committee set up by the national human rights commission alleges that the killing of 17 Maoists and 2 civilians in Doramba area of Ramechhap district on august 17 was violation of human rights by security forces as there was no cross-firing as claimed by the Royal Nepalese Army, according to 'The Kathmandu Post'.
However, the report has not yet been made public.
