Canterbury: Zimbabwe made one change from the side which beat England by four wickets at Trent Bridge on Thursday, with seamer Douglas Hondo coming into the team.
Hondo has recovered from a minor knee injury and replaces Gary Brent, who neither bowled nor batted on Thursday.
Captain Heath Streak said: "Doug would have played at Nottingham and his recovery means we will now field our strongest team for the match against South Africa.
"The win against England has given the entire squad a boost and has set us up for the game at Canterbury.
"South Africa will pose different problems to England, but this was the ideal start to the series."
Zimbabwe's opponents have added batsman Boeta Dippenaar to the XI that suffered a six-wicket defeat to the hosts at The Oval on Saturday.
Captain Graeme Smith blamed his bowlers for failing to defend a total of 264-6.
"We fielded well but we didn't put the ball in the right place," he said.
"We didn't bowl well enough in the first 15 overs to create enough pressure."
