Coimbatore, Sept 26: In order to have better interaction and necessary feedback on textile related issues, union textile ministry would constitute two high level bodies comprising representatives of export promotion councils and related associations, a senior official has said.
Though, the Centre had implemented various schemes and policies for the benefit of textile industry, there was lack of feedback and information pertaining to textiles, Union Textile Secretary S B Mohapatra told reporters here, last night.
The ministry would constitute a high level expert body, consisting of chairpersons of various export promotion councils and associations to get information about various aspects of the industry, Mohapatra said.
The body would work as a `think tank,` on a consensual approach and provide information and database related to the industry, like modernisation, post-WTO scenario and utilisation of technology upgradation fund scheme and export front from time to time, he said.
The body, headed by Union Textile Minister, would be in place within two or three weeks, Mohapatra said.
Another body, comprising experts drawn from various textile associations and promotion councils, would provide feedback and suggestions on necessary changes and reforms, to incorporate in future policies, he said. With regard to new financial package, Mohapatra said it would be in place within three months and benefit at least 300 to 400 textile mills, to the tune of Rs.10,000 crore. Bureau Report
