New Delhi, Dec 01: CBI director P C Sharma today said extradition of Monica Bedi was like his dream come "partially true" and added that a foundation for a similar move in the case of underworld don Abu Salem had been laid. "It is a step in right direction as this will signal the criminals that they could be caught anywhere even if they jump the international boundaries," Sharma said reacting to an official communication that the Portuguese High Court had ordered Bedi's extradition.
He said the decision of the Portuguese High Court augured well for the agency in getting Salem extradited, who is wanted by CBI in connection with the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts.
"When Salem will also be extradited from Portugal, it will be my dream come true," Sharma, who is retiring on December 06, said.
The CBI director said that during his tenure he had laid a special emphasis on extraditing or deporting criminals wanted by India.
"There have been disappointments like in the case of Anis Ibrahim, brother of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, but nevertheless, a beginning has been made," he added. Bureau Report
