Shanghai, Nov 12: At least three miners were killed and 12 others missing after a gas explosion ripped through a coal mine today in northeast China`s Jilin province.

through a coal mine today in northeast China's Jilin province.
The blast occurred at the Wangou coal mine, which was
operating illegally in Tonghua city when 24 miners were
working in the No. 2 shaft. Nine miners escaped, Xinhua news
agency reported.
The coal mine, which had gone bankrupt, was ordered to stop production on June 04, official sources said.
Vice-Governor of Jilin province, Jiao Zhengzhong and other provincial government officials have come to the site to lead rescue efforts and investigate the cause of the blast.
