Silchar (Assam), June 29: Eight suspected ultras have been arrested in Cachar district of Assam today, official sources said here. Four suspected Hmar militants were nabbed by the Army from Marshakhal Punji area. Four unlicenced guns were recovered from their possessions.

In another incident, police arrested four persons, including a lady and a child from a Guwahati-bound night bus at Katigorah area near Badarpur town, they said.

The lady, Lairik Tombi Singh, an active member of UNLF and her husband Naren Singh alongwith his brother Bhogirath Singh and minor son were arrested for their alleged involvement in supplying arms.

Tombi Singh had received arms training at camps outside the country and she is being interrogated for details on the activities of UNLF, they added.
