Aizawl, Sept 12: Congress leaders from Mizoram led by former Union Minister Dr C Silvera, reportedly detractors of former Chief Minister and State PCC President Lal Thanhawla, returned here today from Delhi after meeting AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi. Silvera told a news agency that they met Gandhi on Saturday last and discussed how to revamp the State PCC so that the Congress would be able to win the coming State Assembly polls and also Lok Sabha elections next year. Sources close to Silvera said that AICC leadership was informed that the chance of the Congress Party coming back to power in Mizoram was slim as Lal Thanhawla was recently charge-sheeted in corruption cases.

"The State PCC can ill-afford to have corruption-tainted leaders while facing the assembly polls and Sonia Gandhi was urged to bring changes in the state leadership," they said.
Besides Silvera, those who met AICC leadership in Delhi were former minister Dr H Thansanga, former legislator Rochhunga Ralte and former PCC treasurer F Lalthlamuana.
