Srinagar, June 07: Elaborate security arrangements has been made for the protection of minority communities living in Kashmir Valley in the aftermath of Nadimarg massacre in which 24 Kashmir Pandits were killed by militants, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said today. "As many as 122 static guards have been established for Kashmiri Pandit families and another 97 for pockets of Valley dominated by Sikh residents", Sayeed told the state assembly in a written reply. "These guards are mostly manned by J&K police personnel. The strength of each guard varies and depends upon the threat perception at each location, which often changes", Sayeed said.
Area dominance is also being ensured in coordination with other security agencies of respective areas in the minority community areas, he said.
Admitting that some Kashmiri Pandit families had migrated from the valley, Sayeed said the minority areas, where separate guards were not posted, were provided with proximate security by the camps located near these pockets.

Stating that regular review of security of minority pockets was undertaken, the Chief Minister said steps were afoot to strengthen their security.

He said the government has provided communication linkage in respect of these locations with the nearest security force camps to meet any eventuality.
Sophiscated weaponry is also being provided to the guard personnel to foil any attacks on the minorities. Bureau Report
