Kozhikode, June 17: Union Minister of State for Law and Justice P C Thomas, today said he favoured a CBI probe into the May two Marad violence, which had claimed nine lives, "to establish all facts related to the incidents”.
"There is a general consensus for a CBI inquiry and I too
favour such a probe as the present investigation (by the crime
branch police) is not sufficient'', he told a meet-the-press
programme organised by the Press Club here.
However, it was for the Antony government to recommend to the Centre for a central investigating agency probe, he said.
Urging the UDF government to initiate adequate steps to rehabilitate the affected, the Minister said justice should be rendered to every one irrespective of community they belonged to.
Earlier, Thomas, accompanied by BJP state president- elect, P S Sreedharan Pillai, visited the families of those killed at Marad and also held discussions with the Araya Samajam leaders. Bureau Report
