New Delhi, Sept 26: Aiming at a second Green
Revolution, the Advisory Committee on agriculture today came
out with a seven-point action plan to streamline agriculture
credit, infuse technology and step up investment in the farm
sector.
The Advisory Committee, the first of its kind in the
Finance Ministry, held its maiden meeting in which members
came out with a roadmap to sequence agriculture reforms.
The committee chaired by Finance Minister Jaswant Singh
suggested government could start with those strategies that
have to be implemented by the finance ministry like cheaper
credit to farmers, improving cooperatives besides streamlining
subsidies which was impeding the budget.
